Haywood Bunn Arrington, birth 1825 Tarboco NC, died ± 1900
Haywood was the son of Redmond Bunn, a white man, and an unknown female slave belived to have been owned by him. Haywood was raised in the Bunn household. Grew up with half brothers John and Edward Bunn. Educated by a tutor on the Bunn Plantation.
In his teens he was sold to Dr. John Arrington. Dr. John had two sons: Samuel Peter and Richard.Haywood saw Dr. John as a surrogate father.
In about 1843 Haywood married Fannie Boyd Plummer. After the Civil War Haywood and Fannie changed their name from Bunn to Arrington. Farmed on the Summerville Plantation for a short time.Returned to Warrenton where he built his own home with his children.

According to Andrew Jackson Arrington Jr., his grandfather Henry Haywood was left with four young children to raise when Ida Mitchell moved back to Wilmington NC. Eventually, Henry placed the children in an orphanage in New Britain, CT where they lived until young adulthood.
